The Story of Mydibs

Doing is Becoming

We're Toogi and Zola, twins who met in the womb and never really stopped building things together. We have always been hustlers and always wanted to start something together. When we were 9, we got paid by our neighbour to clean out a gross garage and found a gold mine: hundreds of dragon ball Z cards and started a business selling them at school and got in trouble for that. We have been trying new things together ever since. 9 months after starting our first grown up jobs after law school we bought a house in the city center and decided to turn it into a short term rental on booking/airbnb. We needed to start making money on this house immediately in order to be able to afford the mortgage, so we listed the house before we got the keys. We had 7 days from the day of purchase to the day of the arrival of our first guests. We barely slept, but got it done. This house turned into our Harry potter themed b&b we ran together for 8+ years. How did Mydibs come about? It started with a handstand class poster in a bathroom stall. Toogi saw a poster for an adult handstand class taped inside a bathroom at a coffeeshop. Intrigued, she messaged the owner and emailed back and forth several times, switching to whatsapp before settling on a time and place. She noticed it required a tremendous amount of effort to partake in a class you weren't even sure was any good. Toogi (teachmehowtotoogi) walks 20,000 steps a day, talks about whatever life is teaching her on TikTok, and has learned one thing above all:action is the only thing that actually changes your life.

DIBS stands for "Doing is becoming", without action there is no transformation. Meanwhile, Zola (zolabayar) is allergic to subscription models and fiercely believes the future of work is freelance. That more people should have the freedom to choose when and how they work. Dibs is the place where all of that finally came together. We built Dibs because we were tired of how complicated it was to: - try something new, anything - find out WHAT is out there - join a community - go out and do something in the real world when you don't have someone to do that with And you end up doing nothing. Not because you don't want to, but because all this friction kills curiosity.
